The E7系・W7系 Series Shinkansen represents Japan’s new generation of high-speed trains, jointly developed by JR East and JR West for the Hokuriku and Jōetsu lines.
The W7, its near-identical twin, entered service in 2015 on the extended Hokuriku Shinkansen line to Kanazawa, marking a new era of connectivity between Tokyo and the Sea of Japan coast.
Introduced in 2014–2015, these sleek 12-car sets reach speeds of 260 km/h, combining smooth acceleration with luxurious comfort. Their aerodynamic design and quiet ride make them ideal for Japan’s mountainous routes. Inside, interiors inspired by traditional Japanese craftsmanship reflect elegance and precision.
